Fallish Foods - Meal Plan Week of Aug 26th

The cake my sister and I made and decorated last week!

Welcome to fall everyone!  My husband's favorite season is now upon us - next week's menus and going forward will probably include some soups and stews with warm baked breads.  We are loving the warm days and cool nights plus we have planted a bunch of new fall crops.  Baking is what we are most excited for around this house especially since we can do it without running the air too much!

  1. Do you have an electric rice maker? I have always made the regular white rice with water but have been afraid to put anything else in it. How do you make your spanish rice in it?

  2. Yes we use an electric rice cooker - for spanish rice we add some tomato sauce, garlic, onion powder, and cumin then cook it just the same as white rice expect for we add 25% more water. We have even cooked a chicken rice dish in it...I will post a recipe or two next week using the rice cooker!

  3. I have been trying to convince myself that it was ok to try. I think I am trying it tonight! Making some chicken tacos! By the way if you are a Trader Joe's fan, they have an amazing (a bit spicy for the kids) taco seasoning pack for less than a dollar! SO GOOD!

  4. I hope you try it - we love it - we also do one where we just dump a can of green chilies in and cook yummo sooo good! That's awesome for the taco seasoning - oh if only our Trader Joes was closer!
