Homeschooling

We are changing up our homeschooling plan a tad bit!  Big C has previously completed the Letter of the Week curriculum based upon principles from both of these sites: Confessions of a Homeschooler and Letter of the Week.

Now are working with her on learning to read using Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, Kumon Workbooks, Other Workbooks we have accumulated, and lots and lots of crafts, play, and reading!  She will begin a new set of activities in September for Pre-K.  Now mind you these are all thing she asks (begs) to do - she is a learning oriented child and we typically only spend maybe 2-3 hours ALL week on these types of activities so we aren't sitting here drilling her to pieces just sort of something to do during Little C's afternoon nap!

In addition Little C has started Baby School - well she isn't a baby anymore but she is my baby so we are calling it that.  We are working with Little C on her speech development and basic concepts such as colors, shapes, numbers, even objects.  So............we are going to be doing Theme Based Learning.  Our activities during each week will mostly revolve around a predetermined theme thus using the same terminology all week and hopefully enhancing Little C's vocabulary (her comprehension is amazing just not her actual verbal communication).  Big C will also be included in all activities and some will be enhanced for her learning advancement.

So here is a list of the themes we will cover (I will link to the week's posts once I get them up)!
